Hello.

I’m Jillian Freeman, a licensed therapist in Fresno, California.

I received my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fresno Pacific University, and I see clients in person in Fresno, and online throughout California.

I frequently work with couples, parents and families. I also enjoy working with individuals of all ages, particularly around issues of difficult family or partner relationships, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, motherhood, faith and spirituality, identity formation, and life transitions.

I have deeply benefitted from my own experience of therapy, which helped me to process grief and inspired my interest in this work. I have experience as a therapist working in school settings, nonprofits and private practice, and with a wide range of clients including educators, business owners, students, therapists, ministry and nonprofit leaders, and global workers. I'm passionate about helping people deepen insight to better understand connections between past and present, and to improve self-awareness to facilitate more effective, satisfying relationships. I work primarily from an attachment-oriented Emotionally Focused Therapy model.

It's important for me to make the process of therapy accessible and simple. Often when we seek therapy, we're in distress, so I work to be attentive, informative and clear in my communication throughout the intake process and beyond.

I consider myself a lifelong learner. My first career as a journalist taught me to be a student of people and their stories, to listen deeply and pay close attention to the details. I integrate education around developments in the fields of psychology and interpersonal neurobiology in my work because I believe being informed empowers us. I'm committed to continually research and learn new information and strategies to help my clients. In my graduate work, I studied ecopsychology and theology, and I enjoy incorporating these topics when clients find it beneficial. I am passionate about the therapeutic benefits of being in nature and have previously served as a wilderness guide.

I recognize the importance of finding the right therapist. I provide a nonjudgmental, confidential environment to safely explore any and all experiences, and I honor the vulnerability and courage therapy often requires. Contact me to schedule a session or a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
